Parentless children, stranded by the war — Swiss teacher Olga Fierz tells the moving story of a unique rescue mission in a topsy-turvy era. She had worked with Přemysl Pitter to gather up Jewish children from Theresienstadt as well as the “enemy children” in Czech internment camps. Fierz and Pitter turned abandoned castles around Prague into loving homes for their traumatised protégés, offering them a new family and hope of a new dawn.
